Award: Soltecture is one of the world’s leading cleantech companies

Soltecture has been named one of the world’s top 100 cleantech companies for the third time in a row. The prestigious ‘Global Cleantech 100’ list highlights private companies distinguished by their potential for success and special achievements in developing and commercialising clean and environmentally friendly technologies. The Berlin module and system manufacturer was already included in the list of the world’s most promising cleantech companies in 2009 and 2010.

The award is conferred by Guardian News and Media in conjunction with the Cleantech GroupTM, LLC. This year 4,274 companies from all over the world were nominated and the advisory panel, which consisted of 70 industry experts, determined the top 100 companies. “This year’s list truly reflects not only the most interesting companies but also the mainstreaming of this dynamic industry,” says Richard Youngman, founder of Global Cleantech 100.

As one of the leading producers of thin-film solar modules made of CIS semiconductors, Soltecture has impressed the industry since 2003 with its development and production of cutting edge photovoltaic systems. Solar modules made of CIS semiconductors offer considerable scope for development, are much thinner than conventional modules and have considerably reduced manufacturing costs. In addition, they also impress with their elegant appearance. A further feature of this technology is that the energy required for their production is just half of that needed for the manufacture of conventional solar modules. This vastly improves the environmental benefits provided by the Soltecture products and transforms them into an ecologically and economically optimised solution.
